Grey Gardens the Musical at Greater Lewisville Community Theatre
The Greater Lewisville Community Theatre proudly announces the opening of Grey Gardens the Musical, directed by Sharon Veselic. This marks the regional community theater premiere of this marvelous show, so full of song, dance and storytelling. Performances are February 13 - March 8, 2015, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Grey Gardens, based on the 1975 documentary, is the story of Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale (Big Edie) and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale (Little Edie), aunt and cousin of Jackie Kennedy, and their journey from the Social Register to notorious Hamptons recluses. The newest musical GLCT has produced, Grey Gardens is a wonderful mix of comedy, drama, history and family dysfunction. The story spans the decades of the 40s through the 70s, from the glamorous chanteuse-like Big Edie to the eccentric Little Edie and their decaying estate filled with 52 cats and 2 raccoons, all told with beautiful music that USA Today called "Some of the most tuneful and moving songs to grace an original musical in years."
