August Partnership Luncheon
Monthly Partnership Luncheon
Featured Speaker - Scott Turner
Make plans to join us for our August partnership luncheon. The luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th at Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound, and our title sponsor is Sam Pack’s Ford Country of Lewisville.
Our keynote speaker will be Scott Turner - community leader, motivational speaker, former candidate for U.S. Congress, and NFL defensive back for nine seasons. Turner has always been known for his character, passion, and dedication to service.
In 1990, Scott secured an academic/athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois, where he played football, ran track, and achieved a degree in speech communications, and most importantly, met Robin, his wife of 12 years. Scott is currently completing his Masters in Human Resource Development at the University of Illinois through correspondence.
Scott’s professional football career began in 1995, when he was drafted by the Washington Redskins. His three years with the Redskins earned him a Pro Bowl nomination for special teams play. In 1998, Scott signed with the San Diego Chargers. At that time, Scott and Robin moved to the San Diego area and made it their home. In four years with the Chargers, Scott earned four "Player of the Week" honors, which was a record for the team, and led to two additional Pro Bowl nominations. He finished his NFL career with the Denver Broncos.
In all of his stops, Scott’s leadership on and off the field was always evident. For six consecutive years, his teammates elected him as the team’s player representative for the NFL Players Association. Scott’s communication and negotiation skills were a valuable asset as he investigated player issues and participated in decision-making at annual meetings.
As Scott’s football career came to a close, he spent more time volunteering and speaking in his community and around the nation. In doing so, he became increasingly aware of the need for strong leadership and social change in our country. As a result, in December of 2005, he announced his candidacy for US Congress’ 50th Congressional seat in North San Diego.
Scott has employed these various experiences and skills to become an accomplished motivational speaker, and a dedicated community leader. Drawing on his successful NFL career, and his natural dynamic speaking ability, Scott founded a motivational speaking company. He often shares his inspiring message about the importance of education, goal attainment, responsible citizenship, and finding your purpose with groups of all kinds. Speaking recently at the California State Games to a group of over 20,000 coaches, athletes and parents, Scott described how these very qualities helped him to succeed.
This is sure to be a packed house, so please make your reservation as soon as possible. Tickets for the luncheon are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. All reservations will be $25 if made after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August the 22nd.
Reservations can be made here, or you can make your reservations by calling the Chamber office at office at 972-436-9571
