It is the story of a woman on a bus trip in search of a minister to heal her scarred face and how\, between North Carolina and Oklahoma\, she discovers the true meaning of beauty\, courage\, and love. Set in 1964\, while on her long bus ride\, Violet meets two soldiers on their way to Viet Nam. Her relationships with them are key to her emotional awakening. The music encompasses country\, gospel\, blues\, and honky-tonk rock. Violet opened off-Broadway in 1997 and won the Drama Critics' Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical. When it opened to rave reviews on Broadway in 2014\, it was a Tony nominee for Best Musical. GLCT is located at 160 W. Main St. in Old Town Lewisville.
