Jeffrey Whittaker\, CPA\n\nfeaturing\n\n\n\nDan Leal\, Executive Director\n\nChildren's Advocacy Center for Denton County\n\n \n\nThe Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County (CACDC) serves over 1\,700 clients each year. Their mission is to hold offenders accountable for abusing children and by helping hundreds of children and families to achieve healing after abuse.\n\n\n\nThe Advocacy Center was the 2005 recipient of the Award of Distinction for Community Service from the UNT College Public Affairs and Community Service and the 2006 Non-profit of the Year from the Lewisville\, Flower Mound and Highland Village Chambers of Commerce. CACDC was chosen Best Non-Profit by the Readers of the News Connection newspaper in 2009 and 2010.\n\n\n\nAbout Dan Leal\n\nDan Leal has served as Executive Director of the Children's Advocacy Center for Denton County since June 2002. In his role\, Dan directs an organization with 23 staff members\, over 150 volunteers\, and 37 partner agencies to provide justice and healing for abused children. Prior to joining the Advocacy Center\, Dan served as Human Services Coordinator for the City of Denton for 3.5 years. He helped bring in over $1 million to the City of Denton for homeless services and developed a program to bring an additional $100\,000 per year in childcare subsidies for Denton residents. He was named Public Health Advocate of the Year in 2002 by the Denton County Health Department.\n\n\n\nDan graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Radio\, Television and Film. He is married to Kirsten Leal and has two energetic stepsons.
